Anyways. My mom not only supports my DIY addiction - she also loves DIYing herself (she paints the mirror frame in her downstairs bathroom at least once a year). So I invited her to co-host a DIY Dacey post with me. It was way more fun to DIY with her than it is to do it alone - totally reminded me of "crafting" with her when I was a kid (I would glue buttons to paper while she hemmed my pants).
First we worked on her Pinteresting skills. Her account is in a pseudonym so "no one can find her" - the horror if strangers knew of her love for danish furnishings (especially the legs). I don't think she'll become an avid Pinterester, but she does have a couple of boards to play with now.
Finally, we got to the heart of our DIY day and decided to make Modge Podge (or "Hodgy-Podgy" as my mom likes to say) photo coasters using leftover tiles from her bathroom renovation and pictures of the family she sent me when I was living in California. We were relatively successful and learned lots about modge podge, sponge brushes, and my dad (a total photo hog) through the process. Keep reading to see the steps we took and learn from our mistakes.
